Funding Awarded

Highlands Armoured Combat is pleased to announce that we’ve now secured our second phase of funding!

Phase One of funding was awarded last month by Scottish Power Renewables giving us the essential funds needed to purchase the clubs soft kit sets and the floor matting so we can progress our training to include trips, throws, striking and sparring more safely.

Phase Two: This week we’re happy to announce that we have received our second phase of funding too, this time Funded by RWE Bad a Cheo Wind Farm Community Fund (Latheron, Lybster and Clyth), administered by Foundation Scotland. This award will go towards all the clubs consumables and equipment we need to run the training sessions safely and effectively.

And this website and it’s hosting was kindly donated by core member and Welfare Officer Stephen Copinger and his business:
La Kruca Kafejo, Main Street, Lybster

Future funding opportunities:

We still have plenty of Phases left in the clubs development that requires additional funding, so if you’re looking to support a local community-led, not-for-profit, sports club participating in this crazy niche sport of buhurt please get in touch.

Future planned club development phases include:

Phase Three: Steel Armour Purchases for club use; looking to buy 2-3 full harnesses of medieval armour for the club, expensive at £3000+ for each suit of armour but this is essential to overcome the real blocker to accessing the sport; the cost of steel kit.

Phase Four: Competitive team, to compete nationally and internationally the team needs tabards, banners, transport, insurance, membership fees, weapons and more. (This website was in phase 4 but kindly donated during Phase One by La Kruca Kafejo.)
.
Phase Five: Our Own venue! We’re currently based in Lybster Community Hall which is fine for now, but we will eventually need our own space with dedicated equipment and multiple sessions a week including youth sessions and women only nights.

Phase Six: The numerous consumables and equipment to make our own venue a fully equipped and safe training venue.

Thank you to all the participants so far for your great energy enthusiasm and commitment in helping establish a new club and the great response we’ve had generally in the area of Caithness and Sutherland whilst setting up this club, the funding has been a massive boon to the club and the sport in Scotland enabling us to grow at a much faster pace than we might have been able to achieve organically.
